IDEA: Auto-generate music videos with acoustic fingerprints and patterns of motion in videos
Probably any programmer who reads the Dark Side of the Rainbow article will have a similar idea. If you grew up hanging out with the kids who smoked marijuana cigarettes, you've probably seen "Dark Side of the Rainbow." Which means you watched The Wizard of Oz with the sound down while listening to Dark Side of The Moon -- either before, during, after getting high (for best results, you should do it before). If not, have some jenkem and watch it now.
The article lists several other songs that are supposedly synchronized with movies (or parts of movies), like Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" with the opening scenes of Star Wars episode four.
With the massive amount of online video that exists today, there should be a way to make a database for matching acoustic fingerprints with something like "motion signatures" from videos (a succinct and numerical way of describing changes between frames of movies -- something like this probably exists and I just don't know what it's called).
You'd just search for pieces that match acoustic fingerprints... and PRESTO! You have a music video!
